Tucker Budzyn is the expressive Golden Retriever whose funny reactions, food reviews and adventures turned him into one of the world’s most recognizable dogs.
He joined Courtney and Mike Budzyn’s family as an eight-week-old puppy in 2018.
Courtney originally created an Instagram account simply to share his puppy photos and videos. But people quickly fell in love with Tucker’s dramatic expressions and playful personality.
His hilarious conversations with “Hekkin Linda,” Tucker’s nickname for Courtney, became an internet favorite. His son Todd later joined the family’s videos, giving fans even more joyful moments to follow.
Today, Tucker is eight years old and has more than 27 million social media follows across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
But recently, Courtney received news no dog parent ever wants to hear.
Tucker was diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer that affects the body’s disease-fighting white blood cells.
Courtney kept the diagnosis private for two weeks while Tucker began treatment under the care of board-certified veterinary oncologist Dr. Erin Bannink.
Then came the first reason for hope.
After only one week of treatment, Tucker had responded well enough to be considered in partial remission.
Tucker has less energy than usual, but he is still doing the things he loves. He continues to swim, explore parks and enjoy walks with his family.
Courtney was emotional as she shared the diagnosis, but she also made a decision.
She doesn’t want Tucker’s days to be filled with sadness or fear. She wants him to feel hope, happiness and the same love he has given to people around the world.
